Seeds

If you have read many of my blog articles, you will see a common thread. Since I am not currently on the “mission field”, I put a high value on being missional wherever I am planted. This past season I have had a growing desire for my neighbors to know Christ. I started brainstorming with my friend on how we could start a new believer’s Bible study and begin to sow God’s word into the lives of those who live by us. We realized there was one problem; we were not sure that many of them were believers or even had a desire to know Christ, so we began to look for a way to reach out and share the greatest gift we have to offer our community – Jesus!

We found an organization called Alpha designed to introduce people to God, the Bible, and invite them into a journey of relationship with Christ. We felt inspired to name the group “Seeds of Change” and send out invitations attached to a bag filled with flower seeds.

When we share God’s word, seeds are planted, other people may come and water, Holy Spirit will bring revelation, and as truth is released it creates an invitation to change. When we surrender our lives to the lordship of Jesus, we cannot help but be made different (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Maybe you have people you long to invite to know Christ but are not sure how to broach the subject. Maybe consider starting an Alpha group in your home, church, school, workplace, or community center. It’s a great introduction into starting a conversation about God that plants seeds and could actually transform a life.

For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.”- Isaiah 61:11
