We have so many programs in our churches today that focus on our well-being, inner healing, deliverance” and our needs, that we sometimes forget it isn’t about us at all but about saving a dying world.
There is certainly a place for personal ministry. When we are unable to function and the pain is so great that we cannot ignore it, then we need the body of Christ to come and minister to us. Jesus cares for us on a personal level and He has all of the gifts of the spirit wrapped up in a nice package – us. We have gifts of healing, deliverance, and salvation. All of the power gifts and revelatory gifts are ours to use when we need them.
However, I want to make a case here. We have become so self-conscious that many times we fail to see the needs of those around us. Now I know that I am talking to the choir here and because I am I want to throw out a challenge. Let us urge others to become not only God conscious but conscious of what God wants to do in our neighbor, in our town, in our countries, and in the world.
Saint Francis of Assisi was a great man of God. I am paraphrasing what he said. It went something like this. Lord make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is chaos, peace. Oh Divine Master, let me not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to comfort, to bring healing where there is sickness…
The greatest thing in all of the world is that we no longer belong to ourselves but we are bondslaves of the Lord. The minute we said “yes” we became His property. So I say the greatest victory in life is to get to the place where every moment we are not conscious of ourselves but of God and of others. Like the song says “less of self and more of Him, and none of self and all of Him.”
Our greatest example and savior i, of course, Jesus Christ. He gave all.
He said to us in Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
So children of God you can see that the more we give and the more that we lose ourselves, the more it will come back to us. We cannot outgive God in anything we do. Give peace and it will come back to you. Give a smile and it will come back to you. Give money and it will come back to you. If you try to outgive God, you will not be able to do it. This is the victory that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord!
