Secrets Unlocked As You Sleep

by Mar 3, 2017Missions

The magnitude of dreams has been exponentially increasing in my life over the last three years and it is so fascinating to me! God, the creator of the universe, is talking to me at night and I know He will speak to you and show you things as well! God is no respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34), He will give you more dreams if you simply ask Him to. (Matthew  7:7)

It’s really amazing that God chooses to show me people’s hardest struggles, health challenges, plans of the enemy, and how I can intercede in prayer for them. He’s showing me their struggles and hurts not to “expose” them, but so I can pray for  them. I absolutely love to see people’s breakthroughs after I have been praying for them for short or long periods of time.

Did you know that God is your biggest encourager as well? Sometimes, God will have you share your dream with a person to lift their spirits and let them know God is thinking about them. Can you imagine walking up to one of your friends that doesn’t believe in Jesus, and sharing with them their heart’s desires or challenges that God showed you? You get the opportunity to glorify God, and it lets the person know how immense God’s love for them is! It’s a great evangelism tool to say the least!

When God shows you something about a person or even yourself, the breakthroughs may not be instant, but there is definitely fuel  behind  them. When God gives you direct insight and revelation on someone or even yourself and you pray in agreement with God’s agenda, there is a major shift towards heaven’s agenda. They may not always “feel” it, but laser accurate prayers from the understanding of our dreams for others will cause their lives to shift in a very positive way!

The spiritual gift of dreams is great, but if there is no action after God shows you, then it does not accomplish God’s agenda. The action steps are writing the dream down, or recording it on your phone at night. Then asking God  for  wisdom on what it means.

God may show you something about yourself, perhaps, a deep soul wound that  is still there from childhood. He may show you in your dream a scene as a child where you are getting angry, feeling anxious, rejected, scared, or abandoned. This may be something you didn’t remember happening, because of your soul’s response to protect itself. Why would God show you that? Well, because your soul is still harboring emotions God wants to heal. Do you know that the word “heart” is mentioned over 1,000 times in the bible? God is very interested in    your soul, or your “heart’s” emotions.

The emotional state of the heart affects the rest of a person: “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit” (Proverbs 15:13); “a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22 ).

I meet people all the time and ask them, “Do you have dreams?” Most people I talk to say they do, but they don’t understand them or don’t take them as serious as they should. I encourage you to steward the gift of dreams from God, because when you do, God will give you more! I have learned from some amazing  prophets and teachers that journaling our dreams is very important. Some dreams you have may be very direct while others are more abstract. Pray into them and ask God for wisdom and revelation as to what they mean. Don’t discount your dreams just because you don’t know what they mean instantly. God loves it when you chase after Him with your whole heart!

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the   glory of kings.” Proverbs 25:2

One of the more famous dreamers of the bible was Joseph. He was known to his older brothers as their father’s favorite. For this reason his ten older brothers conspired against the boy and sold him to slave traders while telling their father the boy had been mauled by an animal.

Joseph had been given dreams of God’s plan for his life; so with confidence and strength, he endured much hardship in the book of Genesis, because God already showed him the outcome! God was on his side!

Joseph was called upon to interpret a dream that deeply troubled the Pharaoh. None of the Pharaoh’s wise consults had been able to decipher the dream. But Joseph accurately relayed the symbols in the dream to a future time of abundance that would be followed by a time of great famine. The Pharaoh rewarded Joseph with overseeing the lands of Egypt.

When the brothers returned with Benjamin, Joseph revealed his identity. The brothers suffered from great remorse of their actions and Joseph forgave them. It was a joyous reunion between a grieved father and lost son. Joseph’s years of steadfast reliance on God brought about not only reunion but his high position so that he was able to save a nation from starvation. This was in large part due to the trust that Joseph had with God speaking to him in his dreams!

In the book of Daniel 2:4 As He had done for Joseph, God placed Daniel in a position of power and influence by allowing him to interpret a foreign ruler’s dream. This is consistent with God’s propensity to use miracles to identify His messengers. Daniel himself had many dreams and visions, mostly related to future kingdoms of the world and the nation of  Israel.

So get excited when you sleep! Go to bed earlier! Pray over your sleep before you lay down and say, “God, I want you to speak to me while I sleep. I want you to trust me to pray for those you show me as I sleep. I want you to expose things in my soul that will bring breakthroughs of healing emotionally and in my body. I want to be used as an encourager to the people far from you Lord. I want to be a vessel of hope and wisdom to them. Lord, I want to go deeper  with you!”

For God does speak—now one way, now another – though no one perceives it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword.  -Job 33:14-18

Pray this scripture from Job over yourself before you go to sleep and watch God  begin to speak. I use the voice recorder on my phone because sometimes I’m so sleepy I can’t write it down.  If you think you’ll remember when you wake up, you won’t, so record it! 🙂 You don’t want to miss God’s secrets and  wisdom.

Here’s to you – Happy Dreaming!
