“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Prov. 3:5-6 NASB

 During this season of my life I have been consistently saying out loud to myself, “I trust you, God.” There have recently been some changes in a few different areas of my life and to be honest it just doesn’t make sense. The changes in work and relationships have made me ask God all sorts of questions. I just haven’t wrapped my head around how it’s all going to work together. Just like in my last blog how I wrote about the puzzle pieces and forcing them together into the image I thought they were making, I’ve caught myself having to not squish pieces together again.

For example, with work I had an amazing opportunity to do something I’d love to do. Everything about this opportunity made total sense to just say yes to. However, in pressing into prayer and seeking the Lord for guidance I just didn’t have peace to say yes. When I turned down the opportunity it didn’t make sense to those around me either. What an opportunity I had to just trust God in that moment! It didn’t feel like that though. It doesn’t always feel easy to just trust God in those moments.

Many times when we are faced with changes and don’t know how they will work out we tend to take the situations into our own hands. I know that is what I tend to do. I want to just take control of the situation and do what makes sense to me. I’m a problem solver, it is just what I do. Others may feel the opposite and want to run from the situation. However, when it comes to those moments it’s important to look to the Lord and instead of taking control or running away to just say, “I trust You, Lord.”

So that is what I am doing during this time of shifting. I am saying to the Lord that I’m not going to force the puzzle pieces together. I’m not going to take control and try to make things happen the way I think they should be, nor will I run. I trust YOU, Lord. He is the trustworthy and faithful one. If you find yourself in a moment where it just doesn’t make sense to you, meditate on Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust the Lord. Don’t lean on your own understanding. In all things acknowledge Him. It is He who straightens your path.
