A Heart to Serve

Last month my blog was about having a servant’s heart. I feel like God is keeping me in this place for a while, so I am continuing this theme again. However, this time it is about having a heart to serve.

A few days ago I returned from Cambodia. I knew God was sending me there to serve the servants. I just didn’t have any idea all that He was going to teach me. I have always thought serving others meant to serve with helping hands or helping with whatever assignment was going on in their lives. This is definitely a form of serving, but there is so much more to it.

I prayed and asked God to show me what He was pouring into my spirit. He simply said, “I am teaching you to serve from My heart”. I immediately began to feel Him working in my heart. To learn to serve with the heart of Jesus is true servanthood. Not only to speak words of love, but actually to be His love, and to carry His love. It is when we seek Jesus that we will actually become His love.

Last week in Cambodia my heart was filled more than I could ever imagine. I began to see every situation through the love of Jesus, not my own. I was surprised how much one hug or word or even simple eye to eye contact could change someone’s day. When we listen through Gods heart, we become who he made us to be. I feel that it is in our time of transition that we become transformed. Our thoughts, words, and actions reflect Him .

When I sponsored my “sponsor son” in Cambodia, someone took a picture of him sitting on me. His feet were resting on me. At that exact time, God said, “His footsteps now depend on your footsteps” I have taken those words very seriously. I try to walk in love, speak in love and look at all situations through love. To be Love is to serve with a heart that can only be handcrafted by Jesus.

My prayer for all of us this month is that we ourselves receive how much we are loved by Jesus and then love just like Him to the one He puts in front of us.

To love is to serve and to serve is to love. In a vision I was standing on top of the earth, I couldn’t really see too much because there was gold light all around me. A voice that I know very well said “promotion”. He said ,“what do you want increase in?” I then felt a hand go over my heart and I received an increased capacity to carry His love. It is this love that will set nations free, bring restoration to families, and set the captives free! Together let us seek the love of God and be a reflection of His love.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” -Galatians 5:13-14
