A Servant’s Heart

by Jan 9, 2018Missions

As we enter into a new year, I often wonder what this year will hold and what can I bring in to this new season. I spent time in prayer and heard the word “servant.”  I, of course, asked God many questions about this. He said to “serve the servants.” It took me a while to grasp what that meant, “serve the servants” because I always thought we were to serve the ones in the missionary field, not on the missionary field.

The Holy Spirit then led me to Mathew 20:28 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

I was so amazed by this and how God is increasing my capacity to serve! Next week I leave for Cambodia. As always, I cannot wait to put my feet on this beautiful land. God has really rooted a part of me there. Before I go, I always pray and seek what is my assignment in going. For this season it is to serve the servants. How beautiful is that? To serve the ones who serve.

While I am beyond excited to go back to Cambodia, I am also extremely humbled by this new role God is leading me to. I have no idea where it will go, but I have complete faith it is going to be wonderful in every way.

The reason I am writing about this and being a little more personal than usual is because I have been given a great gift just by asking God “what is in the new year for me to do?” That’s it, one simple question and my life and many others will become even more blessed.

So the way I can serve you is to simply ask you, what can you bring into this new season, in this new year? I pray that you really spend time in prayer and seek God on this. It will for sure change your life and many others. God is creating my servant’s heart. There is no way I could do this on my own.

So once again, ask God, “What do you have for me to do in 2018?” Then be prepared to follow it. I pray you will find this season full of adventure, trust and abundant love.

Matthew 25:23 really say’s it all.
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.”

You are loved dearly and so are the people you will serve.
