There is a River

by May 19, 2017Missions

We just finished an amazing women’s conference called “There is a River.” We were all filled with the “rivers of living water” that Jesus talks about in John 7:38. It says “He who believes in me as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
A new understanding of the words of scripture was also imparted to us along with a new measure of faith and challenge. We are surely gushing forth with the pure rivers of life!
We not only have those rivers flowing out of us but we dwell by the river (who is God Almighty.)  Psalm 1:3 says “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth it’s fruit in its season. Whose leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he does shall prosper.”
Brothers and sisters, we keep our river flowing when we dwell close to the one who IS the river. The word here says we shall not ever stop producing fruit– the fruit of the spirit. It says that whatever we do will prosper.
In other words, if you are dwelling close to the river and if you are dwelling in the midst of the “secret place”  as in Psalm 91, you will never cease to bring forth life. You will never cease to bring forth love, joy, peace, salvation, and deliverance from all sorts of bondages.
We are the rivers! We are the life that the world is looking for. The more we flow out to the oppressed, the helpless, the destitute, the despairing, and even the ugly ducklings of the world, the more the river flows out of us.
We are the conduits of almighty God. He is looking for those who will be His heart, His words of life, His ears, His eyes, and His feet here and now. He has given us the job of bringing the kingdom of God to the earth as it is in heaven.
As we look at the end of the story of our salvation in Revelation 22:1, it says “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb.”
As we travel through life and dwell in this river, let us be washed again and again until we become that crystal clear river of God. Our river will be so clear that there will be nothing hidden and nothing broken. You can see clear through and see purity. You can see Jesus. As we look at one another, we see Jesus. As the people of the world look at you, they see Jesus. As the world looks at me, they see Jesus. Hallelujah to the Lamb! Let us flow with life to a broken and dying world!
