Great Testimonies of Restoration
14 year-old girl
At the age of 5, both of her parents died. She and her 4 brothers and sisters were left to fend for themselves. During that time, a high-ranking government official took her and one of her brothers from their hometown to Phnom Penh saying he was taking them to the city to go to school. However, when she and her brother arrived they were placed on a farm and forced to work long hard hours in slave labor and were abused, if they could not perform or meet productivity demands. Lynn and her brother worked for 7 difficult years in these conditions, until they couldn’t do it any longer and made plans to escape.
Their runaway was miraculously successful. She found a family to help her and they sent her to live with relatives in a nearby slum. In her new family, she was treated as an adopted child. She has now lived with her adopted mother for 3 years. The family loves her and supplies meals and shelter, but they do not have enough money to provide for her education needs. She has still never been to school.
However, despite her circumstances, she is very smart and actually taught herself to read and write. She is now enrolled in school and receiving school lunch sponsorship. She is thrilled to be going to school for the first time and plans to work in an “office” when she is older. She is strong and courageous and will be a great leader for her nation. She continues to do so well that at the end of her first year in school her teacher asked her to skip a grade!
6-Year Old Boy
Like many children, he lives in a slum with only his mom. His mom works as a prostitute to pay for their small rental unit. Even slum housing can cost $2USD per day, and she earns an average of $5USD per night, sometimes less. To keep her son safe when she is working at night, she locks him in their small house. Sometimes she gets taken to jail, and her son is locked inside the house for days at a time. There is much exploitation that happens in the slums during these night hours, so he is very at-risk for trafficking and other forms of exploitation. His mom often does not have enough money for food or to pay their rent, and as a result, they have been forced to move several times and often go hungry. This little boy works hard to help his mom by carrying water and washing the dishes. His mom is in a lot debt, putting him in even greater risk. Without sponsorship, she was not able to afford to send him to school.
School for this boy was not only a dream but also a safe place. He is now enrolled in school and receiving school lunch sponsorship – the beginning of a new life, very different from what he has known in the past. He continues to help care for his younger brother and dreams of a day when he can better help his mom.
15-Year Old Girl
This 15 year-old girl, her 6 siblings, and her family live in a house with 6 other families. While they do have a house, it floats on the river. During the 5-month flood season, they cannot live in the house. She used to go to school, but no longer had the support of the non-governmental organization that used to provide sponsorship for her and her siblings to attend. Her mother and siblings have jobs picking up recyclable garbage and only earn about $3USD per day. This 15 year-old also helps look after her younger siblings and washes the dishes. Her mother loves the children and desires to provide them with a better life, but at this point has no training skills or education.
Extreme Love Ministries hopes to get her mom employed and trained in a micro-business opportunity. Her little girl is now enrolled in school and receiving school lunch sponsorship. She looks forward to each day, and her dream is to become a schoolteacher when she grows up.
We are hoping to get her other siblings sponsored through our Education Empowerment Program, so that they, too, will have an opportunity to go to school. Three other siblings in her family have yet to receive sponsorship. To sponsor any of the remaining 3 kids go to: http://www.extremelove.com/education-empowerment-program/education-empowerment-sponsorship/. Please note “for EEP – CPG00001 child’s siblings.”
11-Year Old Boy
This lovable 11 year-old boy has one older brother and three younger siblings. He lives with his parents in a slum village in Phnom Penh. Both of his parents only have 2nd or 3rd grade education and struggle to find jobs outside of begging. They earn roughly $30.00USD per week begging and sometimes his father can earn an extra $4.25USD for carrying dead bodies. He and his younger sister suffer from congenital heart disease and both need surgery. Extreme Love Ministries supports their medical and follow-up care related to their heart condition. We are believing for a miracle and full manifestation of healing for both of the children.
This 11 year-old is always smiling, warm, kind, and a generous boy who is loved by all. He wanted to go to school and desires to become a policeman when he grows up. He is now enrolled in school and receiving school lunch sponsorship. In addition, his family has better housing, supported through an Extreme Love Ministries sponsor. We believe the whole family will be restored!
6-Year Old Girl
This 6 year-old girl is the oldest of two siblings and lives in a slum village with her mother. Three years ago her father left the family when he was trafficked to Thailand. The family sold everything to pay his bail when he escaped his trafficking situation but got put into jail for illegal immigration. At that time, they were unable to afford rent in one of the slum houses, so were sleeping under another person’s shack. These precious children were left alone until midnight when their mother returned from her job as a cleaner. This sweet 6 year-old looked after her siblings until her mom returned each day. Though the mother was hard working, they were very poor and often did not have enough food to eat. She wanted her children to go to school and have a better life.
This 6 year-old is now enrolled in school and receiving school lunch sponsorship. In addition, her mother is working in our Everlasting Love social business, where the whole family is being restored. This little one is dong very well in school and will be moving up to 2nd grade next term!
