“ For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams.” Isaiah 44:3-4

This has been the very picture unfolding before my very eyes these past few nights in West Englewood. This is a neighborhood located in Chicago, Illinois. It is known to have one of the worst murder rates in the nation. The entire city of Chicago has been given the name “ Chi-raq” – a combination of Chicago and Iraq. In this neighborhood, there is a daily battle against discouragement, but God has given His mandate to His elect to shift the atmosphere. To decree a revival, and to “call forth those things that are not as if they are” (Romans 4:17). And just as it has been declared and spoken, it has been!

The revival team has met under a tent each night and declared the name of Jesus Christ into the atmosphere and over the people. Each night has been a deposit of worship and ministry which has built upon the previous night. This is the breaker anointing at work! The spirit of trauma that has held this neighborhood and its residents captive has been confronted by the consistent prayer of the righteous as the sounds of worship have been released. As trauma has broken off and freedom has been restored to the souls of the people, the manifestation of Isaiah 61 has been revealed. “… The opening of the prison doors to those who are bound and an oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness”.

The miracle realm has opened up as the souls of the people have been restored. There is a tangible feeling of hope in the air as the spirit of despair has fled. Salvation and healing was the anthem under the revival tent last night as revival has broken the back of oppressor.

As I stood in the middle of this tent, with the miracles all around me I could see the oil of the Holy Spirit in the air and on the people. My heart was full of worship and gratitude that God would allow me to partner in the shift of the spiritual climate of this city. Ancient strongholds are coming down and He is using his people far and near to accomplish this. The shout of the Lord is in the camp and it brings revival and victory. My eyes filled with tears as I experienced this first hand this week, knowing that revival fire was started in West Englewood, and the character of fire is to spread.

This is only the beginning. We have longed for the manifestation of what is spoken of in Acts 2:17…”And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.”

The time for this great outpouring is being experienced even now in the darkest places labeled the “worst places”. These are the greatest times to be living in as we partner with the spirit of revival and breakthrough and see full manifestation of Gods glory invade the earth.
